He began his career at Hewlett- Packard where he held various senior management positions and developed strong operational leadership skills, bringing strategy and execution together by building cohesive executive teams and cultures focused on execution and accountability. Prior to joining GoGo Labs, Mr. Jepson served as president and CEO of numerous companies including Extended Systems, Interlink Computer Sciences, and Inference Corporation. Mr. Jepson holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts from San Jose State University.

Concordia University Expands Partnership with GoGo Labs to Gamify Learning

BOISE, Idaho – GoGo Labs, Inc. announced today that they will be expanding their ongoing partnership with the Concordia University, Portland to provide gamified learning options to faculty and students, including the development of a new fully online certificate program in Homeland Security.

GoGo Labs will provide the technical interface to host quests, badges, and achievements, as well as provide ongoing faculty training throughout the year, and project management developing the new certificate program.

GoGo Labs Announces It Has Been Selected to Receive Emory University Grant

BOISE, Idaho – GoGo Labs, Inc., announced today that it will receive an unrestricted $5,000 grant through the Impact of Entrepreneurship Database at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

“We are very excited to receive a grant that we’ll use to directly engage teachers and students in innovative forms of learning,” said Dr. Lisa Dawley, CEO and cofounder, with Dr. Chris Haskell, of GoGo Labs.  “We were also pleased to contribute to the Impact of Entrepreneurship Database program, which is doing valuable work that ultimately helps all entrepreneurs.”

GoGo Labs, the Boise-based creator of the Rezzly® brand of gamified learning technologies, training, and digital content, submitted its information to the database program last year.  Twice a year, database program administrators select four program participants to receive grants.

“This grant structure is part of our larger program of research into early-stage entrepreneurship” said Sean Peters, Program Director of the Entrepreneurship Database at Emory’s Goizueta Business School. “This will be our fourth round of granting, and we are glad to support emerging entrepreneurs around the world through this program”

GoGo Labs Announces Partnership to Train North Carolina Teachers

BOISE, Idaho – GoGo Labs, Inc. announced today that it will partner with the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) to provide North Carolina public school teachers with online training in quest-based digital learning.

NCCAT will host the online training in GoGo Labs’ 3D Game Lab environment from November 17 through December 5, 2014.

GoGo Labs Announces Keynote Speaker for QuestBoise 2014

BOISE, Idaho – GoGo Labs, Inc., announced today that professional game writer and desiger Lee Sheldon will deliver the keynote address at QuestBoise 2014, a two-day online event for teachers and others interested in using the science of gaming to engage students.

Sheldon is an associate professor in the games and simulation arts and sciences program at Rensselaer Polytechnic          Institute in Troy, New York. He is the author of Character Development and Storytelling for Games, which is the standard text in the field, and The Multiplayer Classroom: Designing Coursework as a Game.

His keynote address is titled “The Persuasion Games.” He plans to discuss not only how to design classes as games that persuade students to want to learn, but also how to persuade parents, school boards, and regulatory committees of the value of such educational tools.

QuestBoise 2014 is GoGo Labs’ second annual “virtual unconference.” At the free, online event – scheduled for July 30 and 31 – Sheldon and seven other speakers will lead participants as they explore ways to use games to enhance classroom learning. Topics will include quest design, guild sites, and the Open Badges Initiative.

GoGo Labs Announces That Industry Leader Has Joined Advisory Board

BOISE, Idaho – GoGo Labs, Inc., announced today that Julie Young, a pioneering leader in the global educational technology industry, has joined its advisory board.

Young served for 17 years as president and chief executive officer of Florida Virtual School (FLVS®). FLVS was founded in 1997 as the nation’s first statewide high school. It grew to become the largest online program in the country – and one of the largest in the world – for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The school serves students in 67 Florida districts, 49 states, and 57 countries.

Young is recently retired from FLVS, which also created the first-ever full online video game-based course.

“Julie has a long history of strong leadership in creating educational innovation that has served hundreds of thousands of students around the globe,” said Dr. Lisa Dawley, CEO and co-founder, with Dr. Chris Haskell, of Go-Go Labs.  “We’re honored to include her expertise on our advisory board and excited about the opportunities she’ll bring to the company.”

Young holds a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from the University of Kentucky and a master of education degree in administration and supervision from the University of South Florida. She began her teaching career as a middle school teacher.

Idaho Teens To Learn Digital Game Design as Career Path

Idaho Teen GameLab to teach Idaho students the art of digital game design and coding in an interactive camp.

Screen Shot 2014-01-11 at 1.36.26 PMBoise – January 2014 – Idaho students interested in a career in digital gaming and computer programming have the opportunity to participate in the Idaho Teen GameLab (ITGL). ITGL is a six-week, fully online academic camp that provides career exploration in the exciting field of digital game design. ITGL is taught using 3D GameLab, a quest-based learning platform where students level up by playing educational “quests” at their own pace within Gamemaker Studio, Sploder, Unity, Minecraft and adventure maps. Students will collaborate in virtual worlds to plan and build civilizations, create personalized games, test and provide feedback on fellow-developers games. ITGL is co-sponsored by Idaho Digital Learning (IDLA) and GoGo Labs.

“At Idaho Digital Learning, we are always searching for innovative ways to improve learning opportunities for Idaho Students. Idaho Teen Game Lab provides a rich learning experience that promotes creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking which are essential skills in todays work environment. BOISE, Idaho – GoGo Labs, Inc., announced that it has hired Richard Newman as chief technology officer in a move designed to strengthen the growing educational technology company.
